Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. A Welshman from Swansea, he had been a Regular for 2 years when was broke out. This is the only surviving memorial in Calderdale he is certainly named on: he is named on the now lost Spring Side, Wesleyan Methodist Church memorial and may also be named on IWM 2650. What does seem certain is that David, his brother, is also named here and on 2650 and the same lost memorial.
