Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, with a child, and had worked as a mule spinner, after having joined the Royal Garrison Artillery at 16, then been a policeman and even as a stoker in the Royal Navy - in what order is not know. He was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial.
