Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He played cricket in his spare time for Walsden before he enlisted in January 1915. He was wounded in Salonika and then invalided home with Typhoid from there. He was then acting as a guide to an ammunition column in Belgium when he was caught in a barrage and hit in the head. This was the only Calderdale memorial that they logged which he was named on.
