Notes
The Roll lists his address as 18 Cobden Street, Peterborough. It indicates that George died in hospital in Gallipoli, which differs from official records.

(CWGC records that Bombardier G Goodley, regimental number 43884, died on 7/1/1916 while serving in 63rd Battery of the 10th Brigade in the Royal Field Artillery, and is buried in grave K.17 at Kut War Cemetery in Iraq. Soldiers Died in the Great War records that George was a native of Spalding who enlisted in Huntingdon, and that he died in Egypt on 7/1/1916. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that he died at Kut al Amara, and that his father Thomas was his legatee. The error re the place of death listed on the Roll of Honour appears to have been drawn from an inaccuracy when George's death was announced on 22/1/1916 in the Peterborough Advertiser, which reported that he had died in hospital in Gallipoli. George's birth was registered in Spalding in 1887. On the 1901 census he was living with his parents Thomas and Eliza at 17 Rogers Street in Peterborough. By the 1911 census his parents lived at 18 Cobden Street, while George himself was serving in India as a Gunner in 63rd Battery of the RFA).
