(CWGC records that Lance Corporal Charles Wyman, regimental number 20841, died aged 21 on 18/8/1916 serving in the 1st/7th Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire regiment. He is buried in grave II.K/3 at Blighty Valley Cemetery at Authuille Wood in France. They record him as the son of Charles and Agnes Wyman of Peterborough.
Charles' birth was registered in Peterborough District in 1895. On the 1901 census he was living with his widowed father Charles at 1 Moulton Cottage, Gladstone Road, Peterborough. On the 1911 census he was lodging at Seaton, Uppingham in Rutland, working as a farm labourer.

The Medal Rolls record that he was entitled to the Territorial Force Medal, and that he had gone to France serving in the 1/1st Hunts Cyclist Battalion under regimental number 395.
When his death was announced in the Peterborough Advertiser on 2/9/1916, a letter from Platoon Sergeant W.H. Day was quoted as stating that Charles had "only recently joined the Warwicks, and this was his first time in the firing line". Charles had been in the trenches when a shell burst close by; a fragment caught him in the stomach and he died within minutes; he had been buried in a wood near the trenches).
