The Roll lists his address as 19 Goodyer's Yard, Bridge Street. It inaccurately states that he died on 28/11/1918 serving in the 1st Battalion; he actually died on 28/11/1917 serving in the 5th Battalion.

(CWGC records that Lance Corporal Sidney Percy Woods, regimental number 8617, died aged 26 on 28/11/1917 serving in 'C' Company, 5th Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment, and is buried in grave V.B.8 at Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery at Manancourt in France. They record him as the son of the late William and Mary Woods of Peterborough.
The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that Sidney died on 28/11/1917 serving in the 5th Battalion; his father William was his legatee. The Medal Rolls record that Sidney had served in the 1st Battalion as a Private before transferring to the 5th Battalion, and that he went to France on 13/8/1914.
The birth of Sidney Percy Woods was registered in 1891 in the Chesterton District, Cambridgeshire. On the 1891 census he was recorded as "Percy", aged 1 week, living with his parents William and Mary at 4 Foundry Road, Chesterton, which was given as his place of birth. [On 2/8/1894 his mother Mary was admitted to the Cambridgeshire Asylum, where she died on 30/8/1895]. On the 1901 census he was living with his father William and step-mother Amelia at 11 Baker Street, Peterborough; his place of birth was given as Cambridge. [Amelia died in 1903]. On the 1911 census Percy's widowed father was living at 37 Goodyer's Yard, Peterborough, while Sidney himself was staying with relatives at Mount Pleasant in Stanground; his occupation on that census was given as "Soldier").
