Notes
The Roll lists his address as 164 New England.

(CWGC's casualty registers originally recorded that Private S. Trowell, regimental number 290630, had died on 9/5/1917 serving in the Huntingdon Cyclist Battalion. That was therefore the date inscribed on the headstone of his grave at 7.3.3164 in Broadway Cemetery in Peterborough. [Having been alerted to the fact that he actually died on 7/5/1917, they have now amended their online database accordingly, and will in due course amend the date on his headstone].
Stanley was born in Peterborough in 1897. He was baptised on 8/9/1897 at St Paul's Church in Peterborough as the son of Joseph and Sally Trowell of 164 New England; the Baptism register was noted that Stanley was born on 9/4/1897. Stanley was living with his parents at 164 New England on the 1901 and 1911 census.
Soldiers Died in the Great War records that he enlisted in Peterborough in the 1st Battalion Hunts Cyclists, and that he served only in the UK.
Stanley's death certificate records that he was serving as a motor cleaner in the 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclists Battalion when he died aged 19 on 7/5/1917, from pneumonia and heart failure, at Winthorpe Auxiliary Hospital in Skegness. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that his father Joseph was his legatee).
