Notes
The Roll lists his address as 64 St John's Street, and states he was entitled to the 1914 Star Medal. (It also records the death of his brother Samuel). It misrecords his and his brother's surname as "Sharpe"; it was actually Sharp.
(CWGC records that Private William Sharp, regimental number 9096, died on 14/3/1915 serving in 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, and is commemorated on Stone 29F on Le Touret Memorial in France. William Sharp's birth was registered in the Peterborough District in 1892. On the 1901 census he was living with his parents Samuel and Elizabeth in St John's Street, Peterborough. On the 1911 census he was in the South Raglan Barracks at Devonport as a Private in the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment).
