Notes
The Roll lists his address as 8 Woodland Terrace, Wood Street. It misrecords his surname as "Rushley".
(CWGC records that Private Tom Rushby, regimental number 60638, died aged 19 on 28/11/1918 serving in 11th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment, and is buried in grave 1.3.605 at Broadway Cemetery in Peterborough. They record him as the son of James and Elizabeth Rushby of 8 Woodland Terrace, Wood Street, Peterborough. When Tom's birth was registered in Peterborough District in 1899 his surname was recorded as "Rusby", which was therefore his legal name; however, the spelling of the family's surname varied between Rusby and Rushby in different records. When Tom was baptised on 28/10/1899 at St Mark's Church in Peterborough he was recorded in the Baptism register as the son of James and Elizabeth Rushby of 11 Rogers Street. On the 1901 census the family was living at that address under the surname "Rusby". On the 1911 census the family was living at 3 Occupation Road, Peterborough as "Rushby". The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects are noted that Tom Rushby had two regimental numbers: 49607 and 60638; they indicate he died at Great Yarmouth General Hospital, and that his father James was his legatee. Although his legal forename was "Tom", his death in 1918 was registered in the Yarmouth District as "Thomas" Rushby).
