The Roll lists his address as 26 Goodyers Yard. It wrongly records his date of death as 29/10/1918.

(CWGC records that Private J Palmer, regimental number 77560, died aged 18 on 29/9/1918 serving in the 17th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, and is buried in grave XII.D.5 at Grevillers British Cemetery in France. They record him as the son of Mrs Palmer of 26 Goodyer's Yard, Narrow Bridge Street, Peterborough. Soldiers Died in the Great War records that he was a native of Peterborough who had formerly served under regimental number TR/9/14418 in the 28th TR Battalion, and that he died of wounds on 29/9/1918. The Medal Rolls likewise record that he died of wounds on 29/9/1918. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that he was killed in action on 29/9/1918, and that his mother Alice was his legatee. On the 1901 census James was aged 2, living with his parents Charles and Alice at 45 Goodyer's Yard. On the 1911 census he was aged 13, living with his parents at 26 Hardy's Terrace, Goodyer's Yard, Narrow Street, Peterborough. On both census his place of birth was given as Peterborough. It is likely he was the "Jim Palmer" whose birth was registered in Peterborough in 1899).
