The Roll lists his address as Orchard Street. It records that he died serving in the Cambridgeshire Regiment, which differs from official records.
(CWGC records that Private "William Shilston Lewis", regimental number 4045, died aged 28 on 25/12/1916 serving in 4th Battalion Suffolk Regiment, and is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial in France. They record him as the son of Mrs Martha A Lewis of 4 Orchard Street, Whittlesey, Peterborough. His birth was actually registered as "William Shelston Lewis" in Thrapston District in 1888, which was therefore his legal name. The Baptism register at Woodford-by-Thrapston records his baptism on 8/7/1888 as "William Shelstone Lewis", son of Thomas and Martha Anne. The Medal Rolls do not indicate that he served in anything other than the Suffolk Regiment).
