Notes
The Roll lists his address as 11 St Leonard's Street. It misspells his surname as "Fellows"; it was actually Fellowes.
(CWGC records that Serjeant Walter Fellowes, regimental number 12959, died on 9/5/1915 while serving in the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial in France. Walter Fellowes' birth was registered in Peterborough in 1891; he was baptised as Walter Fellowes on 20/9/1895 at St John's Church in Peterborough. On the 1901 census he was aged 10, living with his parents and siblings at 11 St Leonard's Street, and was still living with them at that address on the 1911 census. His Army service file records him as Walter Fellowes, and that he was serving in the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment when he enlisted in the Regular Army on 27/5/1908 under regimental number 4030; his regimental number changed to 12959. He served in the UK until 26/5/1913. The Medal Index Card records that he was posted to France on 27/1/1915, and that died on 9/5/1915. In addition to being misspelt on the Roll of Honour, his surname is also misspelt as 'Fellows' in the Book of Remembrance at Peterborough Cathedral. His brother Albert Edward Fellowes, who was serving in the 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, died on the same day as Walter, also at Aubers Ridge; he too is recorded on the Roll of Honour and in the Book of Remembrance under the misspelt surname 'Fellows').
