Notes
The Roll lists his address as 11 St Leonard's Street. It misspells his surname as 'Fellows'; he was actually Albert Edward Fellowes.
(CWGC records that Private Albert Edward Fellowes, regimental number 9964, died aged 20 on 9/5/1915 while serving in the 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, and is commemorated on Panel 7 of Ploegsteert Memorial in Belgium. They record him as the son of Arthur and Mary Jane Fellowes of 11 St Leonard's Street, Peterborough, and indicate that his brother Walter also died; the latter is also named on the Peterborough Roll of Honour. Soldiers Died in the Great War correctly records that Albert Edward Fellowes, regimental number 9964, was born in St John's parish in Peterborough, but wrongly indicates that he died on 1/9/1915. His birth was registered in Peterborough in 1894 as 'Albert Edward Fellowes', as which he was baptised on 29/11/1894 at St John's Church in Peterborough. On the 1901 census he was living with his parents Arthur & Mary Jane Fellowes at 11 St Leonard's Street. On the 1911 census he was recorded as a Private in the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, stationed at Devonport in Devon. The Medal Rolls, which misspelt his surname as 'Fellows', stated that he died on 9/5/1915 serving in the 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, having formerly served in the 1st Battalion. As well as being misspelt on the Peterborough Roll of Honour, Albert's surname is also wrongly recorded as 'Fellows' in the Book of Remembrance at Peterborough Cathedral).
