Notes
The Roll lists his address as 269 Cromwell Road (which was his parents' abode); his own last address was actually 49 Westwood Street. His brother Edward Eno Crosby is also on the Roll of Honour.
(The Medal Rolls record that Fred Crosby initially served in the 1/8th Battalion of the Sherwood Foresters under regimental number 5207, before joining the 5th Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Regiment under regimental number 32570; he later transferred to the 3rd Reserve Battalion of the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Regiment. His death certificate records that he died aged 25 in Dover Hospital on 15/11/1918, from influenza/pneumonia/heart failure. His funeral was reported on 23/11/1918 in the Peterborough Advertiser, which recorded his last address as 49 Westwood Street; that was also his address for Probate. Although he was still serving in the Army when he died, the War Graves Commission was not informed at the time, and therefore had no record of him until recently. Following a successful submission to CWGC, in June 2015 he was added to their Register, and they now record that Private Frederick Crosby, 32570, died on 15/11/1918 aged 26, and is buried in grave 8. 677 at Broadway Cemetery in Peterborough. They record him as the husband of Ellen Jane Crosby, of Peterborough).
