(CWGC records that Private Alfred Church of the 1st Garrison Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, regimental number 203285, died on 22/5/1918, and is commemorated on the Chatby Memorial in Egypt. Soldiers Died in the Great War likewise records him as having died serving in the 1st Garrison Battalion, and states he died at sea, as do the Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, which record that his widow Ada was his legatee. The Medal Rolls record that he had formerly served in 1/4th Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, under regimental number 30731).
