Notes
The Roll lists his address as 151 Star Road. N.B. This man was listed on the Roll twice: once in the main alphabetical- by-surname section (which records his name, address, regimental number etc as input above), and again on an appendix page that is headed "The following list contains limited information concerning men thought to be from Peterborough who were killed in action, but for whom little can be discovered regarding addresses, regiments, dates of death etc" (on which page he is listed merely as "Thomas Church, 151 Star Road"). As both entries relate to the same man, only one 'Names' record is needed for him.
(CWGC records that Serjeant T Church, 7588, of the 2nd Battalion Northants Regiment died on 8/7/1916 and is now buried in grave IX.L.10 of Ovillers Military Cemetery in France, having been reinterred after the Armistice. The Medal Rolls record that Thomas Church was killed in action with the 2nd Battalion on 8/7/1916, having formerly served in the 1st Battalion; his 1914 Star medal was issued under the rank Private in the 1st Battalion; his British & Victory medals were issued as Sergeant Church of the 2nd Battalion. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that he died serving in the 2nd Battalion, and that his father John was his legatee).
