(CWGC records that Private George Burton, regimental number 35711, died aged 23 on 6/10/1916 serving in the 75th Company of the Machine Gun Corps, and is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial; they record him as the son of Mrs Emma Burton of 74 Star Road, Peterborough. Soldiers Died in the Great War records that, prior to joining the Machine Gun Corps, George had formerly served in the Bedfordshire Regiment under regimental number 25731).
