Notes
The Roll lists him as "Fred Bosett" of 21 Swan's Place, and records that he was entitled to the 1914 Star medal.
(CWGC currently has his name misspelt as Private Fred "Bossett", regimental number 3/9960; they state that he died aged 24 on 9/5/1915 serving in the 2nd Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment, and is commemorated on Panel 7 of Ploegsteert Memorial in Belgium, and that he was the son of Thomas & Hannah "Bossett" of 21 Swan Place, Peterborough. In fact, his birth was registered in 1893 in the Peterborough District as "Fred Bosett". He was recorded as Fred Bosett in the Baptism register of All Saints' Church in Peterborough when he was baptised on 8/4/1894 as the son of Thomas and Hannah Bosett of 46 St Martin's Street. His parents Thomas Bosett and Hannah nee Smart are recorded in St Mary's Church Marriage Register in Peterborough as having married on 11/4/1880. On the 1901 census he was recorded as Fred Bosett, living with his parents in Dogsthorpe in Peterborough. On the 1911 census he was recorded as Fred Bosett, living with his parents at 21 Swan's Place in Peterborough. He was recorded as Fred Bosett in the Medal Rolls and on his Medal Index Card, which states that he went to France on 6/11/1914. As Fred's surname was recorded as "Bosett" in all other records, including Army documents, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission were asked to consider amending their records, but have not yet done so).
