The Roll of Honour lists his address as 1 Sheldon Villas, Dogsthorpe Road. It incorrectly records his date of death as 29/10/1917.
(CWGC records that Private William Milley Alton, regimental number 42566, died aged 23 on 9/8/1918; they record that he was born in Peterborough, the only child of William & Jessie Annie Alton of 1 Shildon Villas, Dogsthorpe, and that he is buried in grave G.24 at Gonnehem British Cemetery in France. Soldiers Died in the Great War similarly records William's date of death as 9/8/1918, as do the Army Registers of Soldiers Effects, which record that his mother Jessie was his legatee).
