Hornshaw and Fowler add the extra details but give his death age as 29. As the attached notes suggest, he was married to Eliza (nee Oldfield) and he ran a boot/shoe business as well as playing for a local football team before he enlisted, initially into the East Surreys. He was wounded and then reported missing and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
