Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details, based on press reports of his death, and say he died on the 4th and that he was 22. The notes say his parents were Westrop and Emma. He was the last survivor of a local group who all enlisted together in May 1915, in his case initially into the Royal Fusiliers before being transferred. He fought on the Somme, survived being surrounded for 48 hours in Trones Wood before being severely wounded in the right arm the wound from which he died.
