Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was not married and worked in a dyeworks before he enlisted in March 1916. He was the brother of James who is also commemorated on this memorial and both brothers are on IWM 2738. John is also named on 2751 and his biographical, service and death details are shown there.
