Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He seems to appear twice on this memorial - as serving and dying in both the MGC and the Duke of Wellingtons. They noted that he is also commemorated on IWM 2747 and there as serving in the D of W which CWGC show: the latter show no man from the MGC by this name, therefore it is assumed he served in the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Hornshaw and Fowler noted that the press said he served in a machine gu section which may explain the confusion: his biographical, service and death details as they found them are shown on IWM 2747.
