Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked for a firm of cotton spinners before the war and was a Salvationist. He was one of the many from Calderdale and the Due of Wellington's who were lost in the failed attack on the Schwaben Redoubt on 3/9/16. This was the only Calderdale memorial they found him named on but he is listed on the Thiepval Memorial.
