Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the details. He was the son of the Vicar of Southowram and had worked for the Yorkshire Post newspaper before enlisting in 1915. He was commissioned on enlistment, wounded in 1917 and became an Intelligence officer only to be killed by shellfire. He is also commemorated on a number of Halifax memorials, including his school Memorial in Rishworth (IWM 2631), as well as the Tyne Cot memorial.
