Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was an apprentice hairdresser in Elland before enlisting in August 1916. He is also commemorated on IWM 2830 as well as the Ploegsteert Memorial (and so he may have been killed in Belgium, not France as the memorial lists, although the memorial is close to the border).
