Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Married with 2 children, he had served in the Royal Navy from his youth, in China and East Africa, but was driving a crane for Campbells when the war began. He re-enlisted in August 1914, survived the sinking of HMS Cressy and was invalided home from HMS Pembroke but died after 18 weeks of illness.
