Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, had worked briefly for the confectionery company Macintosh and enlisted in March 1916. He was killed on the eve of the failed attack on the Schwaben Redoubt which saw so many men from both Calderdale and his regiment lost and he is also commemorated on IWM 2689, 2600, 2695 and, possibly, 2725.
