The memorial gave us his qualifications - MA, MB, BC (Cantab.) - but Hornshaw and Fowler provide all the extra details. He was married, to Jessie, a former ward sister at the Halifax Royal Infirmary and he had been the Officer commanding a 1400 bed hospital in Salonika until he was taken ill. On his way to leave, he was taken off ship at Alexandria where he died of dysentery. He also had an individual memorial at the Halifax Royal Infirmary.
