Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was originally from Bacup but had lived in Todmorden for 4 years with his wife and 4 children, working at a mill. However, as a Territorial, he was called up in September 1914. he was a member of Prudence of the Vale Lodge and is also commemorated on IWM 2224 as well as the Helles Memorial. His age was given as both 34 and 35 at the time in the press.
