Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked for the Walsden Co-op and was married to Elizabethe Ellen: he enlisted in November 1916. He was invalided home with dysentery but, judging by where he is buried, he died en route. He is not commemorated anywhere else in Calderdale.
