Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was originally from Todmorden but had moved down the Calder Valley and was first working at Hebden Bridge Station as a parcel porter and then in a mill: he was also an accomplished singer with eh Hebden Bridge Male Voice Choir before the war. He is also commemorated on IWM 2224 and 2845 as well as the Arras Memorial.
