Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married to Emily Ann, worked in a mill and was a member of the Cornholme Brass Band for 10 years before he enlisted at Christmas 1914. He served first with the ASC in Salonika and Palestine, surviving malaria which hospitalised him, and was finally killed by shellfire near Bapaume after transferring to the KSLI. He is also commemorated on IWM 2224 and 596.
