Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was living with his brother in Bispham in Lancashire and working in a bank in Blackpool when the war began. He died in hospital of wounds after being hit by a sniper whilst serving in Gallipoli. He was the brother of Will who is also named on this memorial, and neither were found on any other Calderdale memorial.
