Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra detail. He had moved to Thornton Heath in Surrey, trained as a teacher in Battersea and married a Miss Eveline Gibson of Sowerby Bridge after leaving school. He crossed to France in September 1914 but died after only 11 days in action. He is also commemorated on IWM 2627 as well as the La Ferte Memorial.
