Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Living in the village an unmarried, he enlisted in September 1914 and served in the Dardanelles, Egypt and India: he died in the latter of Cholera. His younger brother, Edgar, is also commemorated in this memorial and they are both also on IWM 2632.
