Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Living in the village, he was actually born in nearby Barkisland and is one of the many of his regiment and of the Halifax area to die in the unsuccessful attack on the Schwaben Redoubt on 3rd September 1916. Upon his death, a May, from nearby Triangle, sent a token of love. He is also commemorated on IWM 2627 and 2632.
