Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was engaged to a Beatrice Sutcliffe and played in a concertina band before, as a Territorial, he was called up in August 1914. He was in Ireland during the 1916 Rising, crossed to France in 1916 and died there the following year. He was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial by them, but he is named on the Arras Memorial. His brother, James Selwyn, was also killed in WW1.
