Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. A married man and son of a former Colonel in the Madras cavalry, he was a Director of his family-owned paper manufacturer in Luddenden but also worked as a barrister in London and so enlisted in the Inns of Court Regiment in September 1914. He was wounded the following September whilst serving in France and did not return to his unit until 25th May 1917, being killed a fortnight later. He is also commemorated on IWM 2620.
