Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was educated at Arnside and then Bridlington and enlisted from school, first into the Seaforth Highlanders and then transferred to the RFC in 1917. He was killed after only 11 days in France when his aircraft went out of control. He was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial that they catalogued.
