Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked as an apprentice meter inspector with the Sowerby Bridge Council before the war and then served as a gun team sighter. He died at the Battle of Jutland and, whilst he was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial, he is named on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
