Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. The elder brother of James who is also commemorate don this memorial, he was not married and worked as a cutter for a dyeing company. Wounded in the abdomen, he died at a casualty clearing station. Both brothers are also commemorated on IWM 2854 and 2711.
