Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked in an office for the Co-Op in Hebden Bridge before enlisting in March 1915, aged only 18. He was commissioned the following year but died a year later when supporting 2 gun teams: he was killed by a grenade when he was caught in a counterattack as he went forward to establish the best position for the guns. He is also commemorated on IWM 29384, 2607 and the Arras Memorial.
