He was Assistant Secretary of the Old Town Wesleyan Chapel, Secretary of the Old Twon Cricket Club and worked in a mill before enliusting in March 1916. he crossed ot France in January 1917 but was soon wounded whilst on a working party, dying the following day at a casualty clearing station.
