Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked as clerk for a woollen manufacturer in Sowerby Bridge before the war and served as a signaller. He died in 12 General Hospital Rouen from the effects of being gassed and is also commemorated on IWM 2620 and 2623. The press gave his age as both 21 and 23 when he died.
