Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra detail. A mill worker who enlisted in February 1916. He was invalided home in December 1916, returned to his unit the following April but was killed by shellfire. He is also commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. His brother in law, Herbert Helliwell, is also commemorated on this memorial.
