Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married the month before he was killed to Evelyn Deacon and had been educated at Rishworth School and then enlisted in September 1914, being commissioned in 1917. Pte L B Guest, also serving with the Machine Gun Corps, kept his papers after his death but these were confiscated by the Germans upon his capture at Langensalza POW camp so he wrote home to his own parents who then informed the War Office of Thomas' death. Thomas is also commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial and numerous around Calderdale - IWM 2689, 29416, 2587 and 2631.
