Notes
All extra details sourced from Sefton War Memorials (see References). Sydney grew up at 1 Durant's Cottages, off Melling Lane, Maghull. It is thought that Sydney disappeared whilst fighting to take the village of Guillemont. His family posted a request for information concerning his fate, which appeared in the Liverpool Echo on 9th September 1916; 'Private Sydney Sewell, King's Liverpool Regiment is missing.' Previous to the war he was employed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company at Aintree. He is also listed on the Thiepval Memorial.
