Hornshaw and Fowler (see References) provide the extra detail and state that he had worked as a dresser before joining the army as a regular. He had served 2 years before going missing and is also commemorated on the Menin Gate as well as IWM 2224 and, possibly, 2650. They say he may have been the brother of David who is also listed on this memorial.
