The Gunfleet website (see References) states that he was a shipwright, working at HM Dockyard, Sheerness, but killed when the minelayer, Princess Irene, he was working on exploded by accident whilst 3 miles out at sea. He was the brother-in-law of H G and P G Cousins who are also listed on this memorial.
